Description
Impressive One-of-a-kind Named Uniform and Papers of a Polish Political Prisoner in KL Mauthausen who was born in Brooklyn (USA). One of the best sets of this type that we have ever had for sale in our auctions house for the quality of the garments and the wristband with all matching numbers. Set comprisies his uniform comprising jacket and pants, his wrist identification tag, a letter sent from camp, a post-war Polish document and a post-war identification card for KL Mauthausen former prisoners. The striped uniform is in excellent condition: jacket has no major damages to the fabric, which is the original and legit camp prisoner striped one. The winkel or red triangle for political prisoners has a "P" stamped in ink on it for Poles. Below theres a stitched white cloth patch with the number 16447 that matches the same number writen with a stencil on the patch attached to the pants, also made with the same type of fabric and with some repairs to the right pocket. All the buttons are present and they are all the ones that came from origin. The wristband is made from leather and it has a great example of hand engraved Identification tag to wear on the wrist with the matching number 16447 and the initials of the inmate and his birth date. He was called Franzisek Dudkowski. The fact that he was a Pole born in USA is really interesting. The papers just add more importance to this set because it’s well documented that he was imprisoned in 1941 and liberated in 1945. The post-war Polish document is a certificate of repatriation for this man after being in Austria in KL Mauthausen. This set is absoluterly stunning from a historical point of view and it’s a true museum grouping. All items for this auction will be shipping from Europe. Shipping cost $20 it doesn’t matter how many items you win.
