After the attack of the Soviet army on September 17, 1939, on Poland, the NKVD seized all members of the political elite and state officials. They were taken to three camp places: Kozielsk Starobielsk and Ostaszkow. Officers of, among others, the Police were sent to Ostaszkow. The presented card is written by a police officer, Adam Rowiński.The uniqueness of the correspondence from these three places is that each person could send only one card a month. The first correspondence appears at the end of November 1939. Almost everyone from this camps was murdered in March and April 1940. Adam Rowiński is on the Katyn list (a list of all those murdered by name). The uniqueness of this card in the fact that it is a receiving stamp of the areas annexed by the USSR in September 1939.
