Description
Infantry NCO Visor Cap (Schirmmutze).
Schirmmutze as a non-commissioned officer, with white “Waffenfarbe” indicating the branch of the cavalry.
The upper part of the Schirmmutze is in gray / green gabardine wool while the lower band is in green / blue fabric. The white Farbe is also made of wool.
The friezes, cockade and eagle, are made of aluminum. The interior is in brownish cotton, typical of the period.
The front center of the cap features a second pattern national eagle and the front center of the centerband has a second pattern, stamped aluminum, oak-leaf wreath encompassing a three piece national tri-color cockade.
The cap has a blackened, patent, leather chinstrap with two, black painted, rectangular, sheet metal retaining clips and two, black painted, vertically oval, sliding length adjustment buckles.
The chinstrap is secured to the cap by two, small, smooth finish, black painted, magnetic sheet metal buttons.
The cap has an extended, forward, black lacquered, vulcanfibre, visor with a subtly raised lip near the forward edge.
The interior of the cap also has a wide, natural tan leather sweatband. Cap is a size 56 1/2
