Description
Decorated Luftwaffe Canteen with Luftwaffe Badge, these items were bought in Nuremberg along with other items coming directly from a family. The canteen was decorated by the soldier it belonged to. A swastika and airplane were added to the front along with an eagle and a swastika. The reverse is engraved "Deutschland uber alles". There is an outline of where another eagle was once attached but no longer there. The bottom is dated 1943. The badge is a Luftwaffe Fliegerhorst Kommandantur (aerial military base command headquarters) which names the town of Wessendorf and the number 33. Badges like this one were used to identify the military personnel from Luftwaffe who worked at a particular base. In this case, the bearer of this one was the number 33.
