Police Officer Overseas Cap

All police agencies in Germany effectively came under the control of the SS on June 17TH 1936, when Reichsführer-SS Heinrich Himmler was appointed to the newly created position of Chef der Deutschen Polizei im Reichsministerium des Innern, (Chief of the German Police in the National Ministry of the Interior). In late 1944 police units were activated as combat units to defend the borders of Germany from the advancing Allied troops.

Top quality, rayon blend construction, overseas cap with gently sloping, fold down, scalloped side and back panels. The edge of the fold down panels are trimmed in bright, interwoven, silver wire piping. The front center of the cap has a machine woven, second pattern, (circa June 1936-May 1945), wreathed, police style, national eagle in silver threads on a, woven, balck, trapezoidal, rayon base (flat wire). The eagle is original machine stitching to the cap.

The interior of the cap is fully lined in ribbed, cotton twill and has a partial, leather sweatband positioned at the front forehead section. All original stitching.

The cap has no visible size or manufacturers markings.

The cap is in overall very good condition.

The cap is roughly size 55/56.

A not easy cap to find in these conditions.
